About Business for Nature

Business for Nature is a global coalition of more than 85 influential partner organizations as well as forward-thinking companies. Together, we drive credible business action and policy ambition to achieve a nature-positive economy for all by 2030.

Our priorities are to:

1. Provide the courage, comfort, and technical expertise to governments so that they adopt, implement and enforce ambitious policies that help create a nature-positive economy

2. Scale and speed up business action by strengthening, clarifying and amplifying why and how companies should act now

3. Drive ambitious national implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework by embedding the role of business in the CBD National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) and sharing learnings across regions

Our values

  • We aim high: We deliver high quality work with urgency that will have real impact.

  • We are collaborative:  We work with and recognize others to simplify the landscape to reach better outcomes for people and the planet.

  • We are inclusive:  We employ and work with people and stakeholders from different backgrounds and geographies.

  • We are open: We listen, learn and bring light-heartedness to our work without underestimating the challenges we face.

Business for Nature is legally and fiscally hosted at Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors.

Business for Nature's work is made possible by the generous financial support from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) -  in partnership with Conservation International (CI) as a designated GEF Agency - Porticus, the European Commission, Fondation Hans Wilsdorf and occasional support from other organizations.

We would like to thank the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation (via the World Economic Forum’s Nature Action Agenda) and the MAVA Foundation for providing funding to Business for Nature previously, as well as to the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) for having kindly hosted us from 2019-2022.

Our 2022-2024 Priorities

  1. Global Advocacy: Continue to unify and amplify a leading business voice calling for ambitious policies on nature at global level

  2. National Implementation: Create a business-government dialogue in 4 countries (India, South Africa, Malaysia, Colombia) to inform the development of the business chapter of CBD NBSAPs

  3. Business Action: Encourage further business action by engaging companies, simplifying the landscape and amplifying existing initiatives

We take an integrated systems approach to contribute to a nature-positive, net-zero-emission and equitable world.
