The Call to Action is the statement in the box above that we’re asking businesses to sign up to and demonstrate business momentum on nature. We’ll use this powerful collective business voice to call on governments to adopt ambitious nature policies to reverse nature loss in this decade.

+ How else can my company engage?

In addition to signing up to the Call to Action, companies can assess, commit, act and advocate for nature. If you’re curious about additional ways to engage for nature, learn more about the steps your company can take to become nature positive.

Companies of any size, geography, and sector can sign up to the Call to Action. We will then share a document that includes company names of all signatories. If you’re not a company but would like to support us, then we’d encourage you to share the Call to Action with your business networks. You can access our communications toolkit.

+ How will the Call to Action be used?

Business for Nature will use the Call to Action to engage and the number and names of the Call to Action signatories will be announced around the UN General Assembly (15-30 Sept) and the UN Biodiversity Summit (30 Sept) to engage and positively influence policy makers who are currently discussing international agreements on nature and climate change. By providing a unified business voice, we can help influence policies that promote sustainable growth, halt the decline of biodiversity and stop climate change.

+ Why now?

Nature is at tipping point. The natural materials and ecosystems that power businesses are under huge strain. In 2020 and 2021, governments have a unique opportunity to forge international agreements to reverse nature loss, like the 2015 Paris Agreement did for climate change. We can and must act now to reverse nature loss and give society the chance to become more resilient and thrive within, not beyond nature’s limits.

By doing so, we’ll collectively give policy makers the courage and comfort to make ambitious agreements to reverse nature loss this decade. We will continue to use the growing list of signatories as part of our ongoing policy outreach at future meetings of the UN Convention on Biodiversity and UNFCCC.
