Businesses commitments for nature

At least 530 forward-thinking businesses have already made commitments and are taking action to help reverse nature loss.  Join them.

More and more businesses recognize that their future prosperity depends on protecting and restoring nature. If you’re ready to make a commitment, consider two important steps:

1) Understand how your business impacts and relies on nature to make sure your commitments have the greatest impact. Learn more about the natural capital journey, and how you can value your impacts and dependencies through the Natural Capital Protocol.

2) Make informed commitments through credible platforms. Set commitments to reduce the most significant impact of your business through at least one of the platforms signposted, engaging in as many of them as are relevant to your company.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Sustainable Development Goals?

According to the UN, "The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice. The 17 Goals are all interconnected, and in order to leave no one behind, it is important that we achieve them all by 2030." At Business for Nature, we focus specifically on Clean Water and Sanitation (Goal 6), Life Below Water (Goal 14) and Life on Land (Goal 15), and thus we have grouped international commitment platforms by the goals they strive to work towards.

What should I do if my company is already committed to reversing nature loss?

We encourage you to commit in as many ways as possible, and further contribute to reversing nature loss by acting for nature, advocating for ambitious nature policies and signing up to Business for Nature’s Call to Action, “Nature is Everyone’s Business.”
